  • 1 zest lemon Always prefer fresh for the best results.

For Seasoning

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti or linguine and cook until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, drain and set aside.
  2. Sauté Garlic & Chili: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced garlic and red pepper flakes, sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is golden and fragrant.
  3. Add Sardines: Open the sardines can and break them up with a fork. Add to skillet, cooking for 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  4. Combine Pasta & Sauce: Add drained pasta to the skillet, tossing with the sardine mixture. Add lemon zest, lemon juice, and parsley. Stir for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Finish & Serve: Season with salt and pepper. Serve immediately with additional parsley and drizzled olive oil, garnished with breadcrumbs or parmesan if desired.
