Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat the canola oil and butter over medium-high heat until the butter melts and begins to froth, about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the onion, green bell pepper, and chopped celery to the skillet. Stir frequently for about 10-12 minutes, until the vegetables become very soft.
  3. Add the minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, dried thyme, cayenne pepper, and bay leaf. Stir for 1 minute, allowing the spices to bloom.
  4. Pour in the tomato sauce and rinse the can with water, adding to the skillet with Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer uncovered for 8-10 minutes.
  5. Fold in the shrimp into the simmering sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes, flipping until they turn pink and opaque.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, and Tabasco. Remove the bay leaf and garnish with parsley. Serve warm over rice or with crusty bread.
