  • 1 pound Flank Steak or skirt steak or top sirloin
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch can be replaced with arrowroot powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Black Pepper
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce or Tamari low-sodium for a healthier choice
  • 2 tablespoons Rice Wine (Shaoxin/Mirin/Sherry) or rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Honey or Brown Sugar maple syrup or agave nectar can be used
  • 1 tablespoon Toasted Sesame Oil regular sesame oil is a fine substitute
  • 1/4 cup Chicken/Vegetable Broth or Water use water if skipping the broth
For the Vegetables
  • 4 cups Mixed Vegetables (Onions, Bell Peppers, Carrots, Broccoli) feel free to swap in any favorite stir-fry veggies
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh Ginger (minced or grated) ginger paste can be used
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced or grated) or garlic paste
For Cooking
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil or avocado or canola oil
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Seeds optional garnish
  • 4 cups Steamed Rice or Alternative (Cauliflower Rice) to serve with stir fry

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine thinly sliced flank steak with soy sauce, ground black pepper, and cornstarch. Toss until the beef is evenly coated, then let it marinate for 15-30 minutes at room temperature.
  2. While the beef marinates, whisk together the stir fry sauce ingredients until smooth and set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat, adding vegetable oil. Cook the marinated beef in batches for 2-3 minutes until lightly golden and cooked through.
  4. In the same skillet, add more oil if necessary, and stir-fry onions, bell peppers, and carrots for 3-4 minutes. Add broccoli and stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes.
  5. Return the cooked beef to the skillet, pour in the prepared sauce, and cook for about 2 minutes, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in chopped scallions and garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve over steamed rice or cauliflower rice.
