Ingredients
  

For the Skillet
  • 1 lb ground beef can swap for ground turkey or chicken
  • 2 cups broccoli florets can substitute with bell peppers or zucchini
  • 1 cup diced onion adds natural sweetness
  • 2 cloves minced garlic fresh or powdered
For Cooking
  • 1 tbsp olive oil can be replaced with avocado oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper freshly cracked is best
  • 1 tsp garlic powder omit if using fresh garlic
  • 1 tsp onion powder adjust based on preference
For Creamy Texture
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese can use Monterey Jack
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream coconut cream for dairy-free
Optional Enhancements
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce for added umami flavor
  • to taste red pepper flakes adjust based on spice preference

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until browned.
  2. Push the cooked ground beef to one side of the skillet and add diced onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3 minutes until onions are translucent.
  3. Stir in 2 cups of broccoli florets, sauté the mixture for an additional 3-5 minutes until broccoli is tender-crisp.
  4. Sprinkle a pinch of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well to coat and adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Cover the skillet and reduce heat to low. Allow to simmer for 5-7 minutes to steam the broccoli.
  6. Stir in 1/2 cup of heavy cream, scraping up brown bits from the skillet until mixed thoroughly.
  7. Evenly sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the skillet mixture. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.
  8. If desired, drizzle 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce and sprinkle red pepper flakes before serving.
