Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced peaches, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Melt the butter in a bowl. Mix with flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Gradually add milk and vanilla to the dry mixture, stirring until smooth. Optionally, add cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Pour batter into the greased baking dish. Layer the peach mixture on top, including the syrup.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let it cool for 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
