Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease your baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced peaches, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  3. Melt the butter in a bowl. Mix with flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
  4. Gradually add milk and vanilla to the dry mixture, stirring until smooth. Optionally, add cinnamon and nutmeg.
  5. Pour batter into the greased baking dish. Layer the peach mixture on top, including the syrup.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
