- Warm the milk to 90 to 100 degrees F and dissolve the yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- Combine the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and add the egg. Stir gently.
- Let the batter rise for at least 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Preheat the poffertjes pan and grease divots with butter.
- Fill the divots halfway with batter and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Flip each poffertje and cook until golden brown for another 1-2 minutes.
- Serve warm and dust with powdered sugar or top with butter and syrup.
