Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and pour ½ cup of melted unsalted butter into an 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, sift together 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of baking powder, ¼ cup of granulated sugar, and ½ teaspoon of salt.
  3. Stir in 1 cup of buttermilk and ½ cup of peach juice or syrup into the dry ingredients until just incorporated, then gently fold in 1 cup of diced peaches.
  4. Pour the batter over the melted butter in the baking dish without stirring. Lightly score the batter into 9 squares.
  5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  7. Whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract for the glaze.
