  • 1 tbsp Butter Adds richness; substitute with more olive oil or plant-based butter for dairy-free option.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Provides aromatic flavor; fresh garlic gives the best taste.
  • 1 tsp Kosher salt Enhances flavors; sea salt is a suitable alternative.
  • 1 tsp Black pepper Freshly ground is recommended for superior flavor.
For Optional Topping
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese Adds umami and creaminess; replace with nutritional yeast for a vegan option.

Equipment

  • large skillet

Method

  2. Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  3. Arrange the halved Brussels sprouts cut side down in the skillet and let them cook undisturbed for about 12-15 minutes.
  4. Move the Brussels sprouts to one side of the skillet and add 1 tablespoon of butter and minced garlic to the empty side. Sauté for about 1 minute.
  5. Sprinkle kosher salt and freshly cracked black pepper over the sautéed Brussels sprouts and toss gently.
  6. Remove the skillet from heat and transfer the sautéed Brussels sprouts to a serving dish. If desired, sprinkle with grated parmesan cheese before serving.
