Ingredients

For the Cannoli Shells
  • 1 roll premade pie crust A convenient base; homemade crust works too
For the Creamy Filling
  • 1 cup whole milk ricotta cheese Must be strained
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese Substitute with cream cheese if needed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla enhances sweetness
  • ½ cup powdered sugar Adjust for desired sweetness
  • ½ cup mini chocolate chips Add a delightful flavor; swap for chopped chocolate if desired

Equipment

  • Mini muffin tin
  • Piping bag
  • Rolling Pin
  • Round cutter

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Gather materials: a rolling pin, a floured surface, and a 2½-inch round cutter.
  2. Roll out the premade pie crust until it’s about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out 12 circles.
  3. Press each round into an ungreased mini muffin tin to form little cups.
  4. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are golden. Cool for 15 minutes before removing.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta, mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Blend until creamy. Fold in mini chocolate chips.
  6. Transfer filling into a piping bag. Pipe the mixture into the cooled pie crusts.
  7. Sprinkle extra mini chocolate chips and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
