Preparation

  3. Pour wet mixture into dry ingredients, stirring until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  6. Prepare the custard filling while the dough rises.
  7. After rising, roll out the dough into a rectangle, spoon custard filling on top, and roll tightly.
  8. Place in a greased loaf pan, cover, and let rise for about 30 minutes until puffy.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool for 15 minutes on a wire rack and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
