Ingredients
  

Marinade
  • 1/4 cup Maple Syrup Can substitute with agave syrup or honey
  • 1/4 cup Liquid Aminos Or gluten-free soy sauce/tamari, reduce by 2 tbsp and add water
  • 1/4 cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika Regular paprika can be used as substitute
  • 1 tbsp Garlic Powder Fresh garlic can be used (1-2 cloves, minced)
  • 1 tbsp Onion Powder Or 1 tbsp of finely chopped fresh onion
Tofu
  • 14 oz Extra Firm Tofu Opt for high-protein tofu
Glaze
  • 1/4 cup Reserved Marinade Thickened by reducing in a saucepan

Method
 

Preparation and Baking
  1. Slice the extra firm tofu into ½ inch thick squares and pat dry with a kitchen towel.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together maple syrup, liquid aminos, water, smoked paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Submerge the tofu squares in the marinade, cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  4. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Bake the marinated tofu squares on the prepared sheet for 30 minutes until golden.
  6. Reduce the reserved marinade in a small saucepan over medium heat for about 10 minutes until thick.
  7. Baste the tofu with the glaze, flip them, and bake for an additional hour, basting every 30 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm over rice, in salads, or in wraps.
